Friday Night Leftovers

1. I want to take M up to see the nurses who took care of her after she was born.  I can't wait for them to see how well she's doing!

2. It's Memorial Day weekend... and that means fireworks at Cascades tomorrow night!!

3. Tonight is graduation at East Jackson... It's hard to believe it's been 12 years since I graduated from there.  I'll be watching Isaac & Julia tonight while my parents are there and my nieces while my brother and sister-in-law go to small group.  Sounds like an eventful night, huh?  I think we'll be watching some cartoons tonight!  Like Aristocats... and Veggie Tales: The Wonderful Wizard of Ha's.

4. Hopefully I'll make it over to my house today or tomorrow to get some more weeding done.  I'm sick of the gray days and rain... I could really use a sunny day.

5. M's done a lot of sleeping today... I think she's going to hit another growth spurt.  She sure does make a precious picture when she's sleeping.

6. A's new favorite thing right now is Mickey & Minnie Mouse - today she put some puzzles together on the floor.  She also loved on her sister and posed for this week's entry at little somethings... This week's theme is warmth - I caught her wrapped up in grandma's fleece blanket, sitting on the furnace vent (the old square style vent).

7. I started my second May 2011 photo album on Facebook today... I'm not sure what that means, but I've got a ton of fun pictures of the girls and other things that I'm quite proud of.

8. I can't believe it's May and we have the furnace running... Ridiculous!!!

9. Amanda Williams helped me figure out something on Facebook today - not bad for someone who told me she was the HTML queen but not so good at Facebook.  She explained out to reorder my pictures that Facebook put in random order for whatever reason!

10. I'm thankful for family that loves me and for two beautiful little girls!

Here's this week's Live Every Moment entry

That's all for now.  Thanks for reading.

Weather Report - The Rain, Rain Go Away Edition

It's nasty and dreary and rainy again today.  And the forecast for tomorrow isn't much better.  Unfortunately, the rain and dreariness is really starting to wear on me.  I'm super tired - that probably comes from still not being able to sleep in my own bed, but it doesn't help that I hate gray days.  and all I can think about is going to the beach...

I ran some errands today and took a couple of pictures for Theme Thursday, but otherwise stayed pretty close to home.

This is First United Methodist Church in Jackson, MI.
This is the Carnegie Branch of the Jackson Public Library.

The girls did a lot of sleeping today... A went down for a nap at 3 and was still sleeping when we woke her up to eat dinner at 5:15 and she didn't really want to wake up.  She was back in bed and asleep by 8:30.  She's such a champ when it comes to sleeping... not without hard work on Mommy's part, but she sleeps anywhere from 12 to 14 hours at night with a 2 to 3 hour nap most days!!

I'm not baby-sitting tomorrow, like I was originally planning.  So now my day is wide open, and if the weather holds - or at the very least it doesn't rain, I might get some more weeding done.  Other than that... I'm not sure what the plan is for tomorrow.

I watched M squirm on the couch today and realized that she's grown nearly 3 more inches in the last 3 weeks... when she's all stretched out, she's really long.  This shouldn't surprise me, since A is tall for her age and has always been long.  Here are some new pictures of M...

 This one is my favorite!

It's been a long week, and I'm really glad tomorrow is Friday and the start of the weekend.

That's all for now.  Thanks for reading.

Overheard at A's Last Early Childhood Play Group... among other things...

Today was A's last play group at the Torrant Center.  It was bittersweet really.  I'll miss it immensely because I've really grown to enjoy my time there with the other parents.  A has really grown up a lot since we started going in November and she really loves going every week... she loves playing with the other kids and the staff.  She also LOVES to show off everything she's learning to do on her own.  It's good though, since it means she's basically caught up developmentally.  She even got a "graduation" certificate today before we left.  Here are some pictures from class today...

Here are some of the things I heard today...

~ "I chase kids, I don't chase cows." Maggie, Gavin's Mommy

~ "You have to sit down to drink."  Ms. Rose, a Physical Therapist

~ "Are you running away?"  Random teacher to Abigail in the hallway

In other news...

I had hoped to get to do some weeding today, but it's supposed to storm all day today.  It doesn't look like I'll get any done today... we can only hope I can do some tomorrow.

M is 16 1/2 weeks today and weighs 13 1/2 pounds!  It's hard for me to believe that she is only supposed to be 10 weeks old today...  especially since she has caught up with other babies who were born around the same time.

Wondrous Weednesday

My diploma came in the mail today!!  I really should get moving on my state license application.

Here's this week's entry in Scripture and a snapshot, inspired by this weekend's craziness:

Confession Tuesday

1.  I'm officially addicted to blogging.  Especially the photo challenges.  That may or may not be a good thing... I guess as long as I can get housework done it's ok...  we'll see.

2.  I'm probably a bad mom, I hate making A wear her braces right now... it's warm and she wants to run around barefooted...
The problem with these braces is that she HAS to wear both socks and shoes with them, so they're really hot.

3. I'm also probably a "bad" mom, since I sometimes let my kid eat Cheetos for breakfast... case in point - today's entry in Shutter Love Tuesdays (Crazy Faces)

ShutterLoveTuesdays

4.  I HATE weeding.  Isaac and I spent 45 minutes this afternoon weeding the grass in our front yard.  Yes, I said weeding the grass.  Last fall, Z re-did the front part of our front yard - brought in a bunch of top soil, graded and reseeded.  Unfortunately, some of the "top soil" we received was actually compost and had a bunch of crap in it which caused lots of weeds to grow in the new section of grass.  Since the yard is Z's "pride and joy" we are pulling the weeds out instead of just mowing them down so that they don't grow back.  The goal is to have the whole section of new grass weeded by Saturday night... I'm not sure it's going to happen.

5.  It irritates me beyond words to be made to feel like my kid isn't developing properly because she's not using tons of words.  She has almost 100 words that are quite clear and just today she learned 3 more while we were at the park with the Williams family (Amanda and the kids - Lucas, Molly, Samuel, Teague, and Charlotte).  A comprehends more than most 4 year old kids and will respond appropriately, but sometimes just with a nod or shake of her head instead of actual words, and sometimes she's just too stubborn to use the words she does have.  I think that makes her a strong willed child, not one who isn't developing properly.

6.  I've slacked when it comes to getting A to the park regularly - and that is going to have to change.  She LOVED it today!!!  Here are some pictures of our adventure in the park today.

Molly was a huge life saver... she helped A climb and slide while I had Madelyn in the carrier.  A thinks Molly is great!!!  So great in fact, that Molly was one of the words she started saying today.

7.  I'm incredibly amazed at what single moms do every day.  You are my heroes!

8.  I'm actually ready for an "adult" job.  I love being a stay at home Mommy, but I'm ready to have somewhere to go every day that is away from my kids and the house - even if it's only for a few hours.  The problem is finding a full time job or even a part time job where the compensation is worth actually working.

9.  I LOVE netflix.  Having easy access to Veggie Tales for A and other tv shows that I don't have time to watch when they are actually on tv or because I don't have the channel a show is on or didn't get to watch the show when it was actually a current show has been awesome!

10.  I'm so very, very ready for an actual vacation.  NOT just a week (or a month) where I'm not sleeping in my own home, but a bonafide, out of the state, two week long vacation.  Hopefully that comes in the form of two weeks in Florida at Z's Uncle Steve and Aunt Missy's house with maybe a trip to visit my Aunt Judy and Uncle John and a visit to the Magic Kingdom.  We'll see.

That's all for now.  Thanks for reading.
